In"Tents" Youth Camp

St.Thomas Church Grove,

1341 Ridge Road, Hooversville, PA

“We Believe” was the theme for this years In-Tents Youth Camp and throughout the week the campers delved into the Apostles’ Creed in various ways with the help of our speaker, Lloyd Garrelts. Lloyd not only spoke to the group but added to camp with his skills on the guitar. The week was a rainy one, but that did not dampen the spirit of the campers. From Team Building on the ropes course at a near-by Church of the Brethren Camp, to servant projects of putting together 48 school kits for NALC Disaster Relief; and painting the camp building everyone enjoyed this special week of Faith Building. In spite of the rain we were able to enjoy swimming, along with hours of volleyball and many were introduced to the Legend of the Magic Stick (compliments of our speaker Lloyd). We had more church involved this year and 1/3 of the campers were first time campers. It always amazes the pastors and leaders of the caliber of the youth that we work with during camp. If you church has not sent campers to In-Tents, please consider doing so, it will a faith changing time for your youth. The dates for next years camp are July 15 -19, 2019. The camp board is also looking into adding a mini camp for upper elementary youth and a family camp. Please consider donating funds to the operating of the camp. Thank you to those who have supported our camp in the past. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Article submitted by The Rev. Nila Cogan, Camp Director. Pastor Cogan also serves as pastor at St. Thomas in Hooversville, PA, as treasurer of the mission district, and as Assistant to the Dean.

In-Tents Lutheran Camp is located at 1341 Ridge Road, Hooversvill, PA.  The camp facilities include a large mess hall with commerical-sized kitchen, several outbuildings (including an outdoor stage), lovely outdoor chapel, volleyball court, and more. We are grateful to St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Hooversville for their generosity in allowing us to establish this camp three years ago in their neighboring St. Thomas Church Grove. At a time when many other camps have departed from orthodox Biblical teachings, In-Tents offers sound doctring for our youth - along with plenty of summer fun, service opportinities, and fellowship with fellow Lutheran Churistian youth!

Our Youth

An important part of any congregation, mission district, or the larger church is the youth. Too often it is said that the youth is the future, but in reality the youth is a vital part of the church today.

The Mid-Northeast Mission District's Youth Team works faithfully to support events that are fun and uplifting to our youth and at the same time are scripturally sound and does not always follow the secular world.

Since our mission district covers a large area we cannot gather often, but when we do we hope and pray that it will be a meaningful time for all those involved.

Please take time to see what we are planning in the future and may God bless our youth and those who give of their time to guide them.

Servants in Christ,

Mid-Northeast Mission District Youth Team
